terrace restaurants london
Summer has officially landed in London, and with it comes one of the best parts of city life: terrace season.
For dog owners, that usually comes with a trade-off.
You want somewhere good — but also somewhere your dog is actually welcome.
So instead of another generic “dog-friendly pubs” list, we’ve curated something more considered:
→ the best al fresco restaurants, wine bars and terraces in London
→ places you’d genuinely choose to go
→ and that just happen to work with your dog
Plus, what we’d actually bring with us.
For long lunches in London
If you’re planning something more intentional — somewhere you sit down properly, order well, and stay a while — these are the spots.
Brunswick House — Vauxhall
Hidden garden energy, tucked behind one of London’s most unique dining rooms.
Perfect for slow, sunlit lunches that turn into something longer.
Toklas – beach
A terrace just off the Strand, built for long lunches.
Grilled everything, simple plates, and very easy to order one more bottle.
Humble Grape — Canary Wharf
Waterside tables, a strong wine list, and an easy place to settle in.
A reliable option when you want something relaxed but still good.
For drinks and a table outside
Less about planning, more about ending up somewhere good.
These are the places you go for a drink — and then stay.
Crispin — Spitalfields
Minimal, wine-led, and always the right choice.
Small plates, great natural wines, and a terrace that works.
Darby’s — Nine Elms
Oysters, Guinness, and live music.
More energy, more atmosphere — and exactly what you want on a warm evening.
Feels Like June — Canary Wharf
Light, bright, and designed for sitting outside a little longer.
One of the easier Canary Wharf terraces to settle into.
For easy terrace plans in London
Sometimes you don’t want to think — you just want somewhere that works.
These are the reliable, always-good options.
Grilled — London Bridge
Fire cooking, big tables, and proper al fresco dining.
Best with a group and something cold to drink.
Milk Beach — Soho
Buzzy outdoor tables in the middle of Soho.
Casual, lively, and very easy to stay.
Lina Stores — King’s Cross
Big terrace, pasta, and wine.
Consistently good, consistently busy — for a reason.
Setlist — Somerset House
Riverside, spacious, and made for summer.
One of the better open-air setups in central London.
What to bring for a terrace with your dog
The part people don’t talk about:
→ how to actually make it work once you’re there
This is our simple terrace edit.
Leather treat pouch (THEANIMALS)
Small, but you’ll use it constantly.
Always on hand when you need it.
Sardine pâté (LOONAWELL)
Good ingredients, and a moment of calm.
Something better for them — even in everyday moments.
Carry bag & settle mat (By Teddy)
Everything in one place, from home to table.
Makes arriving and settling much easier.
Statement settle mat (Bruno’s Shop)
Gives them a place to switch off — wherever you land.
Final thoughts
London isn’t short of terraces.
But finding ones that are both actually good and dog-friendly still takes a bit of filtering.
This is our edit — the places we’d go ourselves.
Save this for your next sunny day
