Michelson Found Animals celebrates a record year of turning corporate and nonprofit support into community relief
LOS ANGELES – Michelson Found Animals Foundation’s (MFA) Better Neighbor Project (BNP) received more than $1 million in donated pet food, supplies, and essential hard goods in 2025. These resources were rapidly redistributed directly to families, shelters, and community organizations across Los Angeles during a year marked by rising need.
Thanks to extraordinary corporate and nonprofit partnership support, BNP delivered critical support to families sheltering in place during ICE raids, residents displaced by the January wildfires, animal rescues, Los Angeles Animal Services shelters, human service organizations, and unhoused Angelenos and their pets.
BNP has successfully distributed the majority of the $1 million in donated products directly back into the community. Additional products will continue to be distributed in the coming months, ensuring a steady resource pipeline into the new year.
“From wildfires to sudden displacement events, 2025 demanded rapid, coordinated action. Thanks to our partners’ extraordinary support, our team was able to deliver immediate relief during emergencies while sustaining regular resource events that thousands in our community rely on throughout the year,” said Victoria Piar, Senior Manager of the Better Neighbor Project at Michelson Found Animals Foundation. “This $1 million in donations was essential to helping families and pets stay together through some of 2025’s toughest moments, embodying what it means to be a better neighbor.”
BNP’s record year was powered by donations from a wide range of corporate and nonprofit partners, including Greater Good Charities and direct corporate donations from Zealandia, Mars, and Weruva. Contributions included wet and dry dog and cat food, treats, toys, litter, carriers, leashes, collars, beds, and other essential hard goods.
This milestone underscores the Better Neighbor Project’s expanding role as a trusted community support hub that bridges corporate generosity with the families, shelters, and service organizations who rely on these resources. BNP continues to fill a vital gap in Los Angeles’ animal welfare and human services ecosystem, ensuring that pets and the people who love them receive the support they need.
