When temperatures soar, keeping your pet cool is more than comfort – it’s about safety.
Dogs and cats can quickly overheat, especially in homes without air conditioning. The good news? A few simple changes can make a big difference.
We’ve put together the four Heatwave Essentials we’d recommend to help keep your dog or cat cool, hydrated and comfortable this summer.
❄️ 1. Give them somewhere cool to rest
One of the easiest ways to help your pet regulate their body temperature is by creating a cool place to relax.
Our Cooling Mat is filled with a thermoregulating gel that activates on contact, helping absorb your dog or cat’s body heat within minutes. It doesn’t need electricity or refrigeration, making it ideal for sunny afternoons, post-walk naps or simply keeping indoors more comfortable.
For extra-hot days, place it in the freezer for around an hour before use. It won’t freeze solid or leave moisture behind, but it will stay cool for hours.

💧 2. Keep hydration interesting
Fresh water should always be available, but many pets—particularly cats—don’t naturally drink enough.
For cats, a water fountain encourages drinking by continuously circulating fresh, filtered water. In fact, cats typically drink more from running water than a still bowl.
For dogs, hydration doesn’t have to come from a bowl alone.
Our Whole Goat’s Milk Powder mixes with warm water to create a delicious hydration drink that’s naturally rich in probiotics and gentle on sensitive stomachs.

🍦 3. Make frozen treats
Frozen enrichment is one of the easiest (and most enjoyable) ways to help pets stay cool.
Our favourites:
🥛 Mix Whole Goat’s Milk Powder with warm water and freeze into ice cube trays or moulds.
🎃 Mix Organic Pumpkin Powder with water to create a nutritious pumpkin purée before freezing.
These cooling treats don’t just help lower body temperature – they’re also packed with nutrients that support digestion, immunity and overall wellbeing.

🌅 4. Change your routine
Sometimes the best way to protect your pet is by doing less.
During a heatwave:
✔ Walk dogs early in the morning or later in the evening.
✔ Avoid hot pavements—they can burn paws within seconds.
✔ Keep exercise short and gentle.
✔ Keep blinds closed during the hottest part of the day.
✔ Never leave your pet in a parked car.
If the pavement is too hot for the back of your hand, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws.
🚨 Know the signs of heatstroke
Heatstroke is a medical emergency.
Watch for:
If you notice these signs:
-
Move your pet somewhere cool.
-
Offer small amounts of cool (not ice-cold) water.
-
Gently cool them with cool water and airflow.
-
Contact your vet immediately.
